Be Careful Players and Parents!!!
This past week, a parent reported that she almost hit a player who darted out from between cars parked along Forward Drive.  Fortunately, she was driving very slowly and cautiously just for this reason.  Parents need to remind their players to be VERY careful when crossing Forward Drive and all parents need to REALLY SLOW DOWN when approaching the WMLL fields.

One other item......we would ask parents to please NOT pull into the WMLL main parking lot to drop off their players.  The lot is very small and crowded and turning around or backing out is a challenge.  Please use the signed "player drop off zone" just to the north of the main entrance along Forward Drive.  Thanks.

2008 Annual WMLL Golf Outing
Mark Sunday, June 8, in your calendars now as you won't want to miss the annual WMLL golf outing at Vitense Golfland.  This year's event will be youth oriented and will feature a Mini-Golf Tournament, as well as a Par 3 Tourmanent.   Parents, coaches, friends, grandparents are also encouraged to sign up and join in the fun.  This is a major fund raiser for WMLL so we need a big turnout from WMLL families.  Watch for sign-up information in mid-May.
We are also looking for hole sponsors for the event.  If you or your company would like to consider being a sponsor or if you know of another company who might sponsor, please contact sponsorship chair, Jim Steeves at
"jsteeves@sbcglobal.net."   Hole sponsorships are $100 for the Par 3 Course and $50 for the Mini-Golf Course.

Thanks for your support!!

2008 WMLL Nights at the Ballpark
This season, we again have two special nights reserved for taking in some great baseball in the area.

First is
Friday, June 6, which is WMLL Night at the Mallards. Take the whole team out to the Duck Pond at Warner Park to see some "baseball the way it oughta be!"  Tickets are available through the concession stand or from Mark Newburg (newy@tds.net) for $6.00.  The Mallards donate half the price back to WMLL so this is a great fund raiser for your league.

Next is
Tuesday, June 17, for Little League Night at the Brewers.  Join over 8,000 other Southern Wisconsin Little Leaguers and families at Miller Park to watch our Brew Crew knock off the Toronto Blue Jays.
WMLL Players and Coaches get to parade on the field at Miller Park if they wear their team jerseys to the game!  WMLL always has one of the largest groups in attendance, so let's keep the tradition going in 2008.  Details for ordering will be coming out soon from your Team Rep.  Order early as a limited number of tickets are available.

Registration Deadline for the 2008 season
was March 1st.

Major League baseball (12's) still has a limited number of openings.  Softball Junior league (13-14-15's) may also have several openings.  Download registration forms below and send in ASAP.  Other age leagues are filled, but we are taking applications for a waiting list (send in application and payment
to be placed on the official list).

WMLL 3rd Annual Bowlathon
Fund-Raiser A Big Success

Over 100 bowlers of all ages came out for a fun day of bowling and fund raising on April 6.   Ten Pin Alley Lanes were our friendly hosts and Charlie Shortino from the WMTV-Ch 15 Morning Show was our guest emcee.  Also joining the fun was former major league baseball pitcher Brad Woodall, who gave some encouraging advice to all the players present.  Keaton Nankivil from the UW Mens Basketball Big Ten Championship team was also in attendance and signed a lot of autographs!  Thanks to everyone who bowled, bid on or donated silent auction items or sponsored a lane.  Your support is much appreciated.
Mark your calendars now for the 4th Annual Bowlathon on February 15, 2009.

WMLL hosts successful State Tournament

-- from John Welk, who maintains a webpage (unpage@aol.com), which chronicles
the history of Little League baseball tournaments in Wisconsin:

"I was extremely impressed with the job West Madison did in their role as host for the tournament. The field was in great shape, etc. etc., but the little touches -- the "state champions" t-shirts,  the fireworks, the bunting all around the field -- really went the extra mile in helping to make the experience special. I have attended a couple of dozen state tournaments in different states over the years, including in Wisconsin, and I would rank what I saw last Friday right at the top of the list. Congratulations to your organizing committee on a superb job."  Thanks John!!
