WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO PLAY GIRLS' SOFTBALL?

Girls ages 8 through 18 (as of December 31, of the preceding year) who live in the Madison West, Madison Memorial and Middleton-Cross Plains high school attendance areas can play in our league. Unless an area exception is made by the Board of Directors and Little League District Administrator, the player must satisfy both provisions to be eligible. National Little League rules allow participation in only one Little League program at a time.

WHAT IS THE LEAGUE STRUCTURE?

Players are placed into leagues based on age.

Minor League -- 8, 9, and 10 year-olds
Major League -- 11 and 12 year-olds
Junior League -- 13 and 14 year-olds
Senior League -- 14, 15, and 16 year-olds
Super Senior (Big) League -- 14, 15, 16, 17, and 18 year-olds
(if there are enough registrants to form a team)

NOTE: Check with
Mike Metcalf, 848-7639, for info on 2010 Senior and/or Big Lg teams.

WHERE/WHEN ARE THE GAMES PLAYED?

Minor, Major, & Junior -- Jefferson Middle School Softball Diamonds and diamonds located in Verona, East Madison, & Kennedy.
Senior & Big -- Jefferson Middle School Softball Diamonds and other area little league fields.

Season play begins in mid-May and concludes by the end of July. Each team will have practices, as well.

HOW DO YOU REGISTER & WHAT DOES IT COST?

Registration is done online through WMLL's Online Registration system. The system can be accessed via the WMLL website (www.wmll.org). All registrations (except some scholarship requests) must be paid at the end of the online registration process.  WMLL accepts credit cards, debit cards and e-checks for your convenience.  Use of e-checks saves WMLL costs in processing payments so please consider that option of payment.

Please email any questions to "registrar@wmll.org."

Everyone who plans to play at WMLL in 2010 must submit a completed registration form via the online system. Registration deadline is February 28, 2010, in order to be guaranteed a roster spot on a team.   Late registrations are NOT guaranteed a spot on a team if leagues are full...these players will be placed on a waiting list in the order the registrations were received.

The fee for each player is $165, if registration is submitted online by the end of the day on February 7 ($180 if registering after Feb 7). All fees must be paid online at time of registration. Scholarships are available for players who are eligible for free or reduced lunch at their school. Parents may submit scholarship requests at the end of the online registration process.  WMLL reserves the right to verify eligibility with player's school principal.

WHAT ABOUT REFUND REQUESTS?

Check the league calendar on this website for the current season deadlines for requesting refunds.  Basically, refunds will be granted if requested prior to the deadlines, which are a day or two prior to league drafts.  No refunds will be granted after the draft except for injuries or families moving away from the area.

CAN YOU REQUEST TO BE ON A TEAM WITH A SIBLING OR FRIEND?

Players from the same family will be placed on the same team if the individuals are in the same league. However, parents may request that siblings be placed on different teams. For 2010, you may request to be placed on a team with one friend at the minor league level only (8, 9, and 10 year olds). Each player MUST indicate the friend they wish to play with on their online registration application and players must match on each other's application.  Limit of one buddy.

WHAT IS THE SKILLS SESSION AND WHO IS REQUIRED TO ATTEND?

The skills session is designed to promote parity among our teams by giving coaches an opportunity to see players prior to the league drafts. Our aim is to have well-balanced, competitive teams.
